In her early years, Shilpa was deemed as a child prodigy for her unique talent of reverse writing as well as her other multiple talents in art (water colour, oil painting, pencil sketching, cartooning), dance (Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattom, Folk Dance), theatre and music (guitar). She picked up more than 200 prizes in these areas along the way. She held a record in the Young Achiever’s section of Limca Book of Records in 1994 and was honoured with the Ugadi Puraskar for child prodigy in 1999 as well as the Pond’s Woman of the Year. Her achievements in these fields together with her academic proficiency ultimately won her the Singapore Airlines – Neptune Orient Lines Scholarship to do her Junior College and later, Bachelors in Computer Engineering in Singapore.
